I am an athlete. I have played soccer and baseball for most of my life. I competed in triathlons for 15 years and I have been doing obstacle course races for the past 6 years. Prior to finding CrossFit I trained for triathlons using the typical “long slow distance” method with some interval work intermixed.
I became a Police Officer in 1990. In 2010, despite my triathlon training, I felt my strength slipping away. Strength I needed to keep people safe. Another triathlete, law enforcement officer and friend introduced me to CrossFit and I’ve never looked back. CrossFit training brought back my strength and increased my endurance levels. That first summer I completed a Sprint, Olympic and Half Ironman triathlon. I felt the best I ever felt during any races even though CrossFit had cut my training time down from approximately 20 hours a week to 8-10 hours per week. I imagined what my life would have been like if I had trained in CrossFit at an early age; if I had known about eating whole real foods.
I believed in CrossFit so much I attended a level one certification and began coaching other people.
After I retired from law enforcement I took a desk job and reduced my CrossFit coaching time. It didn’t take long for me to realize I had made a big mistake. I did not belong behind a desk and what I really wanted to do was train people. I have a thirst for knowledge and a passion to share that knowledge.
Thus, Iron Eagle CrossFit was born.
